Invoices, typed in by hand.
Invoices, receipts, and other paperwork arrive by email or scan and get read automatically — the key fields pulled out, checked against known vendors, and routed for approval or posted directly, instead of someone re-typing them.
Common triggers we get called in for
- Someone manually keys invoice or receipt data into accounting software every day.
- Approval routing for spend happens over email or in person, with no clear trail.
- Month-end close is slowed down by chasing missing or miscoded documents.
- Vendors and formats vary enough that a simple template-based tool doesn't hold up.

The checks are what makes this safe to run unattended. Which ones apply depends on your chart of accounts and your approval policy.
What this looks like in practice
Invoice intake & approval routing
A prototype we built to test this pattern: incoming invoices are read regardless of layout, vendor/amount/IBAN/date are extracted and matched against a vendor list, and the invoice is routed to the right approver with the extracted data attached — ready to post once approved, instead of manual data entry at every step.
